I had a little trouble getting to this distillery; the SatNav kept wanting to take me to somewhere other than the distillery.
The distillery is set in a pleasant green estate with a good amount of parking.
It is a very modern setup with a high level of automation; except for making the cut in the spirit safe which is done manually.
The guide was a gentleman called Woody who, as seems common in Ireland, had a good line of banter, an enthusiasm for whiskey and distilling, and presented the information very well; he gave very good descriptions of the process of making whisky including use of the column still. As it was a small tour was very informal. There were three of us on the tour; myself and a German couple (one of whom was a pregnant lady who could smell, but not taste, the whiskey.
Photos allowed everywhere except in the still house where health and safety concerns (due to the pot and column stills in one room putting a lot of alcohol vapour into the air) means rules are in palce that all electronic items have to be left outside the room. I'm not entirely comfortable with this, but it was a small tour and not an area where strangers could pass through, so probably not a legitimate concern. Afetr we left the still house, we were able to take photos from outside door looking into the still house.
