I arrived there was a coach of French tourists arriving and I feared I might end of as part of a large tour, but they went separately and I was on a tour of seven people.
The guide, Cora, was knowledgable and good a good line in patter ()actually quite common for the guides in most distilleries and visitor centres in Ireland, and ran through the history of the rise, fall and rebirth of Irish whiskey. On the tour we started with a video and then moved through different rooms as the different parts of the history was covered. Rooms were set up with displays including wax work figures for each period of history being covered.
I did the Premium Tour and tasted four whiskies; Tullamore Dew, The Irishman, Powers (can't remember which one, but probably the Gold) and Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey. All were good whiskies.
This site is not owned or affiliated to any of the distilleries listed. I am not involved in any capacity in the whisk(e)y, drinks or alcohol industries. This site is a purely personal effort to compile a list of distilleries I can visit.
